Endocrine Disruptors

Endocrine disrupting compounds are excreted into the aquatic environment through human and animal urine and the use of natural and synthetic estrogens in medicine or in veterinary have caused their presence in aquatic ecosystems.

It also affects a diversity of biological processes involved in coronary artery disease, immunocompetence and cancer susceptibility.
The detection of estrogens is a real interest to ensure wildlife and humans health.

EDC studies have showed that endocrine disruptors can cause adverse biological effects in animals, and low-level exposures also cause similar effects in human beings.

Wastewater, comprised of waste from domestic sources, commercial properties, industry and agriculture, can contain a wide range of potential contaminants. The analysis of these types of samples is often quite challenging due to the variability of both the chemicals compounds which may be present as well as the overall composition of the wastewater itself.
